LAMY Official Use and Care Guides

For fountain pen maintenance and switching of cartridges or refills for LAMY writing instruments, please refer to LAMY’s official use and care guides.

Fountain Pens (Cleaning)
In order to prevent your LAMY fountain pen from experiencing clogging issues due to ink residues or paper fibres, regular maintenance is required. When changing of ink colours or before long-term storage, the same procedures may need to be done.

Converter: With the converter inserted into the fountain pen, place the entire nib section into a glass filled with clean water. Operate the piston mechanism to withdraw and expel the water in the same way as filling your fountain pen with ink. Rinse and change the water in the glass when necessary, until the water expelled from the fountain pen is clear.

Piston (LAMY 2000): Place the entire nib section into a glass filled with clean water. Operate the piston mechanism to withdraw and expel the water in the same way as filling your fountain pen with ink. Rinse and change the water in the glass when necessary, until the water expelled from the fountain pen is clear.

Cartridge: Remove the cartridge, place the entire nib section into a glass filled with clean water. Soak it for several hours, remove the nib section and rise the section with running water from a tap.

Fountain Pens (Maintenance)
Refrain from using any chemicals, detergents, boiling water or any unknown substances for the cleaning of fountain pens. Allow the fountain pen to dry well after cleaning. To prevent any potential leakage or clogging issues, always use LAMY ink cartridges or ink bottles for filling. Secure the fountain pen cap when not in use.
