Welcome to Heidelberg, Lamy's hometown
01
Heidelberg Castle
The epitome of classicism, Heidelberg Castle is one of Germany’s oldest landmarks and a city landmark. Well-preserved from the 13th century to the present day, it is a nostalgic reminder of a glorious past. The castle is located on the highest point in Heidelberg, Königstuhl, offering a panoramic view of the city. Start your leisurely day with a stroll through the stonework and palace gardens with their impressive Renaissance sculptures.

02
Heidelberg University
Heidelberg University, well known to non-students as well, is the oldest university in Germany. It has been recognized worldwide since 2007 as a place where excellent talents such as Max Weber, Ludwig Feuerbach, Hannah Arendt, and Helmut Kohl were trained. It is especially renowned for its medical field, and its university hospital is the largest and most diverse in Europe. The German Cancer Research Center, the Max Planck Institute, and the Graduate School and Research Center for Molecular Biology are also famous. A surprisingly interesting place at Heidelberg University is the student prison where students who caused trouble were imprisoned. The walls covered with graffiti and drawings by the students who were imprisoned are a must-see.

03
The Philosopher's Path
How about taking a walk along the Neckar River and contemplating life while enjoying the magnificent view of Heidelberg? The view of the historic city across the castle, the Rhine River, and the Palatinate Forest will easily blow away your thoughts. Didn't German writers like Hölderlin, Eichendorff, and Scheffel have the same experience walking along the vineyards of Heidelberg? For tourists visiting Heidelberg, walking along the Neckar River and the surrounding mountains is the most intellectual and peaceful way to enjoy the city.
04
Neckar River
The blue Neckar River, which flows from east to west to the center of Heidelberg, is also a must-see. You can see the magnificent Neckar River just before it joins the tributaries of the Rhine River from Heidelberg. In summer, it is a place to cool off, and in the very cold winter, you can enjoy a unique walk on the frozen river. Above all, it would be a great idea to have a picnic on the Neckar River like the citizens of Heidelberg or to enjoy the view of the river from the Old Bridge. The fairytale-like beautiful gate and the playful copper monkey sculptures create a picturesque scene along the Neckar River.

05
botanical garden
If the Neckar River gives the city a blue glow, the botanical garden breathes green into the city. You can see around 4,000 different types of plants, including orchids, bromeliads, palm trees, ferns, water lilies, and succulents from the East and the West, at the Heidelberg University Botanical Garden. Originally created as a medicinal plant garden by the University of Heidelberg, it now attracts tourists with its diverse and attractive plants. It is open to the public free of charge, and on the first and third Sundays of every month, tours of the greenhouse and surrounding area are held.

06
stone of love
Lovers from all over the world have attached their love locks to the Love Stone, made of solid sandstone on the banks of the Neckar River. With bridges in Paris, New York and Florence in danger of collapsing under the weight of lovers’ locks, Heidelberg created a special stone for lovers in the summer of 2013. The stone is said to have been part of Heidelberg Castle. The love poem “The View” by Eichendorff, who wrote a poem for his beloved in Heidelberg over 200 years ago, is engraved in the center of the stone. Experience the city of romance, Heidelberg.

07
Heidelberg Convention Center
The Heidelberg Convention Center is a striking building both inside and out. The city of Heidelberg's building, which combines Wilhelmine style, Renaissance architecture, and Art Nouveau details, exudes a romantic, elegant, and sophisticated feel. Completed in 1903 by two Heidelberg architects, the historic building is now used as a congress and cultural center. From concerts and theater to seminars and symposiums, the Convention Center is as versatile as its architectural impact. The view over the Neckar River is another highlight.

08
Heidelberg Sculpture Garden
While Lamy employees can admire the stunning sculptures in the company’s sculpture garden, tourists can enjoy the Heidelberg Sculpture Garden at the University of Orthopedics. There are 26 permanent exhibitions featuring works by famous sculptors from the 1950s, as well as special exhibitions that change every year. It’s a great place to get artistic inspiration and change your mood. It’s open year-round, free of charge.

09
Königstuhl Observatory
Königstuhl, meaning King's Chair, is a mountain in the Heidelberg area, located close to the old town. You can climb the steep stairs, "Himmelsleiter", meaning "Ladder to Heaven", or take the funicular railway to get there easily. From Königstuhl, the highest point in Heidelberg, you can not only see the city but also the stars in the night sky. For those interested in astronomical observations, the Heidelberg Königstuhl Observatory offers astronomy tours with students from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.

10
Old Town
The Old Town is located at the heart of Heidelberg. The quaint cobblestone streets along the closely-packed buildings and the squares with romantic fountains and statues still show the history of the city today. The arched arcades, old buildings, and other parts of the city were not badly damaged in World War II and are well preserved, allowing you to feel the nostalgia of the past. On the other hand, the various shops in the Old Town, such as bistros, cafés, designer shops, and clothing stores, offer the pleasure of shopping, allowing you to truly experience modern Heidelberg. Discover the special charm of the Old Town, where the past and present coexist in an interesting way along the narrow alleys.
